The Parable of the Cats

It is told about Rabbi Jonathan
That he had a debate
With a certain priest who claimed
That he had the power to change nature:
Rabbi Jonathan disagreed with him, saying:
The nature that the Creator created
Is impossible to change.
Only the Creator can change
But man, in his own strength, cannot.
What did the priest do?
He took several cats
And trained them to be waiters.
He dressed them as waiters,
And sent an invitation to the king and the ministers
To the banquet that he prepared.
Before the meal he told the king
about the whole matter
That he ad with Rabbi Yonathan.
And he gave orders
And immediately the waiters came,
Namely the cats,
Who were dressed exactly like real waiters.
They prepared the table,
And likewise served all the meal
To everyone.
The king and the ministers saw and were amazed
With at miracles of the cats,
And unanimously agreed
That there is no need to discuss it any further.
Who was seated so relaxed
And was not impressed with this demonstration
That proved black on white,
That people are able to change nature.
What did Rabbi Yonathan do?
After they had finished the meal
While the waiters were still standing
And waiting to further serve the people,
Rabbi Yonathan took out a box of tobacco
Everyone thought
That he wanted to sniff tobacco,
But when he opened the box
Out came several mice.
And when the “waiters” saw
The mice coming out of the box
And scatter away,
They immediately left the guests
And chased after the mice,
As nature obligated them.
Then everyone saw
That Rabbi Yonathan was right.
