Is like a ship in the ocean.

He does not know where to turn,

There are no landmarks.

Only when he connects

With the friends

It is like a compass,

That shows him in what direction

He should advance.

We, in this world,

Have absolutely no freedom at all

Only when one comes out of this matter

And begins to feel the forces

That work on his nature

On our world

Then, by these forces

One already has a choice,

To guide his life

And be free.

Spiritual Occupation

One who begins on the path

Does not know and is unable to know

What states he is in

He is like a baby who has no understanding

Of the world he was born into.

But he studies,

And slowly slowly he learns

Like a small child who grows up

And receives all kinds of impressions

That accumulate in him, internally.

And like learning any trade,

One who comes to learn carpentry

He does not know what it is

But he is told: This is a tree.

He is shown that this tree has to be cut

This way or that,

And be glued this way

Or that way.

The tools he has to work with

What glue to use,

And what nails to use.

He learns this material

And what he can do with it,

And how it responds.

And he begins to receive inside him

all kinds of impressions,

Impressions from the material that he works with.

The same thing with spirituality,

We work with ourselves,

Each one with himself,

To start feeling

How he responds

And why he responds.

What are his natural reactions

And how he could possibly change

His reactions and control them,

And how they control him.  

How society can help him,

Toward whom he should change his reactions.

Who should he become like

And who should he distance himself from,

So as not to copy

Their traits.

How to advance toward the ideal form,

And what is the ideal form,

Where one is called “man”.

Therefore spiritual education

Is called “education of forms”

Since this is where one learns

How to add to himself

the attribute of bestowal.

52-What Is The Work of Man

What Is The Work of Man

To enter into the heart

And look deeper into it,

Deeper and deeper,

Like in a cave that we enter

Deeper and deeper into it.

And to try to find in it

The most inner desires

That we did not receive from education,

And did not receive from the environment

Which the world does not respect

Rather they are his inner self.

Really the most internal

desires and thoughts

That one was born with,

And no one influenced them

Through education and the environment.

Then one should take them

And turn with them to the light

To that illuminating force,

That reforms us.

And this work

And natural and simple

And does not require anything.

But only to read in the writings

That were prepared for us,

And through these writings

One is able to connect

The illuminating light

With that same innermost point

in the heart.

Why does man have two legs,

Two arms,

A head

And all the other organs in the body,

And a fish has no

Legs and arms,

And the body and mouth

are enough for him,

To keep himself alive

And fulfill his will?

Because the fish is a smaller desire

And man is a bigger desire,

And the force of the will

Requires this structure.

There is no spirituality

If no one discovers it.

Everything spiritual exists

If someone reveals it,

If someone exists in it,

For instance, the Light.

How do we know that there is light?

If one places a barrier in front of it,

The light is blocked by something

And we see that there is light.

Why is there no light

Outside the earth,

Outside the atmosphere?

Because the light that exists there

Is not blocked by any barrier.

If it is blocked by something,

Then we see,

That here “there is light.”

In me

except what I reveal.

What is revealed

may be inside me,

And it may be

outside of me.

What is inside of me

is certain to be

From my ego,

And what is outside of me

Is the only thing

That I can use

To control my ego.

A general vessel,

The vessel of “Adam HaRishon”.

He attaches to himself

All the souls,

All the empty vessels,

So that the Creator

will fill them.

The results of man’s work

Always ascend to the Creator,

However man, either he goes there

To be with the Creator

And then he is included

Together the the total of his work.

Or he does not cross over there

To the attributes of the Creator,

In this case

The sum total of one’s work goes there

But he himself remains empty.

It follows that one’s will

To receive for himself

Shows us how empty we are.

Precisely this is what directs man

To pay attention

Where one’s goes,

Where is disappears.

And that it is worthwhile for one

To follow after it,

And hold on to the things

That he did,

And there one will have

True filling.

Everything Is His Speech

If you only listen,

If you only open the heart,

You will begin to discover

That He wants to speak with you,

That everything that you go through

In the mind and in the heart,

Both in you and around you

All of it is His speech.

One does not hear,

or see

or feel anything

Except for Him.

There is nothing,

Not people,

And not anyone,

You speak only with Him

And this is His language.

Perception of the world,

The feeling of reality,

The way I feel myself,

This is the Creator speaking with you.

149-The Form Of Bestowal

The Form Of Bestowal

If one has a little of the form of bestowal

Then awakens in him the force of Bina,

And understanding settles in him,

And he receives an answer from within.

However this is attained only through man’s work,

Which is called “the heart understands”.

To the degree that the point in the heart

Develops in the heart,

Bina (the point in the heart)

over Malchut (the heart)

The heart begins to understand,

And receives inside that point in the heart

All the wisdom

of that development.
