He attaches to himself

All the souls,

All the empty vessels,

So that the Creator

will fill them.

124-Crime Against the Kingdom

Crime Against the Kingdom

Baal Hasulam

A man did a terrible crime

against the kingdom

and was sentenced to twenty years imprisonment

with hard labor.

The prison was outside the country

in some desolate place in the world.

The sentence was executed right away

and he was sent to the desolate place

at the end of the world.

Once there, he’d found other people

who were sentenced by the kingdom

to be there as he was,

but he became sick with amnesia

and forgot that he had a wife and children,

friends and acquaintances.

He thought that the whole world

is nothing more than meets the eye

in the desolate place

with the people who are there;

And that he was born there

and did not know of more than that.

Thus, his truth is according to his present feeling

and he has no regard for the actual reality,

only according to his knowledge and sensations.

There he was taught

rules and regulations so that he

would not break the rules once more,

keep himself from the felonies

written there,

And know how to correct his actions

so as to be brought out of there.

In the books of the king,

he learned that one who breaks this rule, for example,

is sent to a desolate land

far from any settlement.

He is impressed by the harsh punishment,

and has grievances at why such harsh punishments are given.

Yet, he would never think

that he himself is one who broke

the rules of the state,

that he has been sentenced harshly

and the verdict has been executed.

In addition, since he became sick with amnesia,

he will never feel his actual state.

There is a difference between corporeality and spirituality:

in corporeality, the force precedes the act,

as it is written, “before they call, I will answer,”

arranged according to the end of correction,

where nothing is done

before they have the strength to do it.

In spirituality, however,

where it is still not arranged

according to the end of correction,

But by the order of scrutinies,

the work must begin

before the attainment of the strength,

as it is written,

“that fulfill His word,

hearkening unto the voice of His word.”

128-The Sack is Dropping Off

The Sack is Dropping Off

When a person is standing

on the street carrying a heavy load,

and he is asking passersby

to help him lift the sack onto his back,

everyone tells him they have no time,

and “Please ask someone else,

since there are many people here

who can help you,

and you don’t really need my help.”

But if a person is carrying a heavy sack on his back

and the sack is dropping off

and is about to fall to the ground,

and people pass by him

and he is asking for their help

to put the sack back on his back

so it does not fall,

we see that at that time,

when the sack is about to fall off his back,

no one will tell him,

“I have no time; ask someone else to help you.”

Rather, the first one next to him

will immediately help him.

Wherever it is said

that something spiritual

moves from one place to another,

it does not mean

that it abandoned the first place

and came to another,

as in corporeality.

It only implies an addition,

as it remains entirely in the first place

as it was even after it comes

to the next place.

It turns out that another place

has been added,

for there is no absence in the spiritual.

A Seed In The Ground

A person who placed a seed in the ground

so that a big tree would grow from it,

but took the seed out of the ground right away.

Thus, what is the benefit in the work

of putting the seed in the ground?

Moreover, we can say

that he not only took out

the seed from the ground

and corrupted it,

we can say

that he dug out a tree with ripe fruits

out of the ground

and corrupted them.

The results of man’s work

Always ascend to the Creator,

However man, either he goes there

To be with the Creator

And then he is included

Together the the total of his work.

Or he does not cross over there

To the attributes of the Creator,

In this case

The sum total of one’s work goes there

But he himself remains empty.

It follows that one’s will

To receive for himself

Shows us how empty we are.

Precisely this is what directs man

To pay attention

Where one’s goes,

Where is disappears.

And that it is worthwhile for one

To follow after it,

And hold on to the things

That he did,

And there one will have

True filling.

135-The Bright One

The Bright One

Baal Hasulam

The Bright One!

And from the Heavens He shines.

There-within the curtain of the screen.

The secret of the righteous is there made clear,

And Light and darkness shine together.

How good it is to delve in His deeds,

But beware not to reach out your hand for Him.

Then shall you hear Him, and so will you meet Him,

In the tower of might, the All Inclusive Name.

You shall relish in words of truth,

To speak untainted words.

And all you will see,

Your own eyes will see, and not a foreigner’s eye!

136-The World of “Atzilut”

The World of “Atzilut”

You might compare it to a candle.

If you light a thousand candles from it,

or if you light none,

you will not find that it caused any changes

induced in the candle itself.

It is also like Adam ha Rishon:

if he had progeny of thousands of offspring

like us today,

or if he had no progeny at all,

it would not induce any change at all

on Adam ha Rishon himself.

Likewise, there is no change at all

in the world Atzilut itself,

whether the lower ones

receive its great abundance lushly,

or receive nothing at all.

The above-mentioned greatness

lies solely on the lower ones.

137-Wheat Bread

Zohar

A person whose house was in the mountains

who did not know town dwellers,

Sowed wheat,

And ate the wheat

As it was.

–

One day he came to town.

He was served fine bread.

The man said:

What is this for?"

He was told:

"This is bread to eat."

–

He ate,

And it was most pleasing to his palate.

He said: "And what is this made of?"

"They told him: "Of wheat".

–

Then he was served

Cakes made with oil.

He tasted them,

And said: "And these, what are they made of?”

"They told him: "Of wheat.

–

Thus he was served foods fit for kings,

kneaded in oil and honey.

He said: "And these, what are they made of?”

"They told him: "Of wheat”.

–

:He said

"Certainly I possess all these

Since I eat

The main part of all these

"Which is wheat.

–

And because of this view

He did not learn how to make

All these delicacies

And did not know of the world's pleasures

And they were lost to him.
